CHRISTMAS PARTY - December 18, 2013
Music filled the air as we celebrated the festive season with a turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Our thanks to St. Boniface Councillor Dan Vandal for volunteering to help serve lunch. Guests mixed and mingled with old friends and made some new acquaintances. Our line dancers performed a couple of routines then members of the audience joined in. The sound of jingle bells heralded the arrival of our English and French SANTA's who distributed gifts. A local CTV News crew even dropped by to do a little filming and conduct interviews regarding the Snow Angels Initiative (see IN THE NEWS page). WHAT A JOYOUS EVENT! Qu'est-ce qu'un événement joyeux!

INTERNATIONAL PEACE GARDEN - JULY 31, 2013
A delightful day strolling through formal gardens and parkland. Our guided tour included stops at the 9/11 Memorial, Peace Tower & Chapel, and Game Warden Museum. At the new Interpretive Centre we enjoyed a satisfying buffet lunch and were fascinated by the many cacti and succulents on display in the adjoining conservatory. Archwood 55 Plus heartily recommends the ice cream at the Border Walk Café, especially the Rhubarb/Strawberry flavour!
ASSINIBOINE PARK ZOO OUTING - JULY 16, 2013
On our outing to the Zoo we met polar bear Hudson, visiting penguins Tubbs, Sal and Mooshu, several emus, kangaroos and lots of other interesting animals. Following lunch at the Park Cafe, Qualico Family Centre, there was just enough time for a quick stroll through the English Gardens and the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden before heading home.
Canada dAY COMMUNITY bbq - jULY 3, 2013
Our 2nd annual Canada Day outdoor BBQ was well attended by Archwood 55 Plus members as well as residents from around the neighbourhood. As it was a hot day some preferred eating indoors in air conditioned comfort.
PRAIRIE DOG TRAIN RIDE & FALL SUPPER - SEPTEMBER 2012
The Railway Fall Supper was an opportunity to ride back into time on a 1900-vintage train and enjoy the savory goodness of old-fashioned home-cooked food freshly prepared by the Grosse Isle Recreation Centre.
CLEAR LAKE, MB BUS TRIP & BOAT CRUISE - august 2012
Although it was raining when we arrived at Clear Lake our spirits weren't dampened as we exited the motor coach and walked to the docks. A bountiful buffet awaited us on the Marteze followed by a windy cruise around the lake. The sun finally came out in the afternoon as we visited the local museum and prowled around the town's shops in the hunt for unique items and shopping bargains.
exploring ST. CLAUDE, MB - july 2012
Holsteins, Hostas, Hard Labour & Heaven were all represented on our day trip to the community of St. Claude. We enjoyed exploring the Manitoba Dairy Museum, historic one-room school, local gardens, 1890's village lock-up and unique church designed by Etienne Gaboury.
moose jaw spa & rcmp heritage museum - may 2012
Our 3-day trip to the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort in Moose Jaw was congenial. Participants enjoyed relaxing and/or rejuvenating at the spa, exploring the historic tunnels under the city, and expanding their waistlines at the delicious buffets. On the way home the travellers visited the RCMP Heritage Museum.

A sampling of our cleaver artists and craftspersons who helped raise funds for our organization.
KENORA, Ontario DAY TRIP AND BOAT CRUISE - august 2011
A fun jaunt to Kenora to enjoy a leisurely cruise around Lake-of-the-Woods.
NEEPAWA, MB LILY FESTIVAL - July 2011
Participants enjoyed the great variety of lilies on display and in the gardens at the Lily Festival. We had a guided tour of the town and saw the Davidson Memorial, aka Stone Angel made famous by Margaret Laurence, and the furthest west burial place for a victim of the Titanic. Before leaving Neepawa we stopped at The Lily Nook to purchase unusual lily varieties to grace our own gardens.
